The National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is looking into the possibility of offering incentives to the regional internet service providers (ISPs). The NTRA will issue 10 licences by end of 2016, aiming to reduce the illegal ADSL connections in the rural areas of Egypt. The regional ISPs should utilise the networks of TE Data, Vodafone Data, Link ADSL, Etisalat Internet and Noor to provide the service virtually to its customers. It is worth noting that NTRA will get 3% of the revenues generated by these “virtual ISPs”. (Al Borsa)
