Dubai to impose AED35 airport service fee on departures
Dubai airports will charge AED35 as service fee for every passenger leaving from Dubai’s airports, including transit passengers, according to a statement on Dubai crown prince’s website. Airlines will collect the travel fees while issuing tickets. This fee will become effective from 1 March for flights departing after 30 June. Fees will be transferred to Dubai Airports and subsequently to Dubai government public treasury. In 2015, Dubai Airports received 78 million passengers. The funds generated would be used to improve Dubai’s airport infrastructure and boost its capacity, set to reach 100m passengers by 2023. (Bloomberg and Dubai Airports)
