Almarai's Egyptian subsidiary, Beyti, breaks ground on EGP1 billion factory
Beyti, Almarai's [2280.SE] 52%-owned subsidiary through IDJ, a JV with PepsiCo, has broken ground on an EGP1 billion dairy and juice factory in Nubariya in Egypt, at a ceremony attended by Investment Minister Ashraf Salman and Beheira Governor Mohamed Sultan. The investment includes 20,000 milking cows to vertically integrate the operation. According to the company’s Managing Director Mohamed Badran, the new factory will be contracted out to a number of companies that specialise in juice manufacturing. The move is part of the company’s previously announced plan and is expected to increase sales to EGP5 billion by 2020.
